With the Traverse City Film Festival kicking off this week, it’s a great time to enjoy Northern Michigan.
From July 25-30, Traverse City becomes the center of the film world! Celebrate wonderful films and a charming small town with this top-flight festival that draws movie lovers to Northern Michigan. Since 2006, it’s become a staple of TC’s summer and an added attraction for folks and families spending time in the area.
Between your wine tours and beach days, explore the wide selection of films and different venues that dot unique neighborhoods not just in Traverse City, but budding wine towns like Suttons Bay and Frankfort. These venues offer travelers a glimpse of new places that they may have otherwise skipped. This year, the TCFF will see over 120,000 people view over 120 features and 107 shorts over the festivals five days.
We love checking out the films, and this year, there’s an added emphasis on great food to go along with great films. Traverse City’s growing reputation as wine mecca and foodie capital, the selection of food-centric films reads a bit like a menu of incredible choice. The Traverse City Film Festival certainly keeps a pulse on the local scene, and they’ve handpicked some delectable choices.
Another Traverse City Film Festival tradition for the family is the nightly free movies at the Open Space. Shown on a massive inflatable screen, hundreds of people turn up to watch family-friendly films and some old favorites on the shores of Grand Traverse Bay. Many simply walk up from the beach and toss their towels down to curl up for a very fun and unique movie night. Psst…not only can you watch Star Wars: The Force Awakens, but one of our personal favorites, What About Bob?, also gets the nod for 2017!
Of course, with such great weather and wonderful places to see, you’re going to want to balance your theater time with some adventures in the vines! We have a full fleet of vans and the most knowledgeable drivers in the region. We can’t wait to show you the beauty of Traverse City through the study of the vines, the breweries, and the places we love. Book your tour with us today!
